As a Food Service Worker with the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by preparing and serving nutritious meals to patients in our hospital.
Job Summary:- Prepare patient meal items such as tea, coffee, toast, salads, sandwiches, milkshakes, infant formulas, and tube feedings by weighing, measuring, and combining ingredients.
- Assemble patient meal trays according to menu and portion food for patients and/or retail food areas according to specified requirements.
- Load, deliver, collect, and unload meal service wagons.
- Clean soiled dishes and utensils and store cleaned dishes, trays, and utensils in the appropriate areas.
- Prepare items such as vegetables and fruit by procedures such as washing, slicing, dicing, and grating.
- Deliver food items from storage areas to work areas, rotate stock, remove food items from packaging, cans, and/or freezer, label, package, and transfer food items to freezer storage.
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and damp mopping floors, cleaning counter tops, sinks, machines, and equipment, and spot washing walls and splash areas.
- Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
- Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures.
- Notify leadership of retail product inventory when low.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Grade 10 plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Certificate in Food Safe Level 1.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
