Job Summary
Interior Health Authority is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join their team in Revelstoke. As a casual employee, you will work in a supportive team environment performing a variety of duties within Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine.

About the Role

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex tests, utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments. You will also be responsible for entering data into the Lab Information System (LIS), validating and reporting test results, maintaining instruments, and contributing to training and evaluation programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory tests and procedures to analyze patient samples
  • Enter data into the LIS and related systems
  • Validate and report test results to healthcare professionals
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Participate in training and evaluation programs to improve laboratory practices

About the Team

You will be part of a dynamic team at the Queen Victoria Hospital, a Level 1 Community Hospital in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap health service area. The hospital offers a range of services, including acute care, laboratory, obstetrics, and emergency.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
  • Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
  • One (1) year recent related experience
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
