Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Finance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial planning and control for a portfolio of capital projects, ensuring effective financial review of capital costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage a portfolio of capital projects for the organization.
  • Ensure financial cost tracking is aligned with accounting standards.
  • Monitor project costs from work in progress to asset retirement.
  • Support project managers with financial advisory support and appropriate accounting treatment of project costs.
  • Facilitate month end/year end activities for assigned projects.
  • Support Manager Capital Cost Accounting with audit matters.
  • Provide advice to the business on accounting treatment, project code set up, and categorization of assets.
  • Develop and coordinate financial, contract, and administrative project functions.
  • Establish and maintain procedures and processes within the department.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, cost control, budget control, and/or management.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation an asset.
  • Experience in budget, project schedule, and forecasts, construction, contract administration, negotiations, and developing terms and conditions.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and practices would be an asset.
