Position Overview

The Financial Operations Specialist will be responsible for managing CANARIE's accounts payable along with various daily accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process claims from funded participants, ensuring thorough analysis of supporting documents.
  • Prepare continuity schedules and perform account reconciliations.
  • Serve as the main finance contact for employee expense claims and vendor invoices, ensuring effective communication.
  • Record accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices and expense reports.
  • Verify all requests for changes to vendor banking information.
  • Generate subledger reports and conduct reconciliations.
  • Engage in the accounting period closing processes.
  • Contribute to system implementation initiatives.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • College diploma or university degree in Business Administration or Accounting, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounts payable processing and other accounting roles.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly in using formulas within Excel.
  • Experience with ERP applications and associated reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is preferred.
