Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Home Support Worker to provide essential care and assistance to clients in their own residences. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for individuals who require support with daily activities.

Employment Details
  • Work Term: Permanent
  • Work Language: English
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: Previous experience is an asset or equivalent experience
Work Environment
  • Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis. Note: This is NOT a condition of employment.
  • Work will be conducted in the employer's/client's home.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer bedside and personal care to clients.
  • Assist clients in water activities (e.g., swimming).
  • Support clients with bathing and personal hygiene tasks.
  • Encourage and assist in regular exercise, such as walking.
  • Change non-sterile dressings as needed.
  • Provide feeding assistance or feed clients directly.
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to client needs.
Qualifications
  • Certificates: CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificate are required.
  • Security: A criminal record check is mandatory.
Physical and Personal Attributes
  • Ability to perform a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Capable of handling repetitive tasks.
  • Personal Suitability: Must demonstrate client focus, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, initiative, judgment, organization, reliability, teamwork, patience, and honesty.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Facilitates access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • Assists with foreign credential recognition.
  • Offers mentorship programs pairing newcomers with experienced employees.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to foster an inclusive work environment.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Participates in initiatives supporting Indigenous communities.
  • Offers mentorship and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Provides cultural competency training to create a welcoming environment for Indigenous employees.
