Job Title: Manager, Histology

About the Role:

Dynacare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Histology to join our team. As a leader in the field of histology, you will be responsible for managing the laboratory operations and people leadership of the Histology Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage laboratory operations, including workflow, quality control, and customer service.
  • Lead and engage a diverse team of medical laboratory technologists and other staff members.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Pathology Operations and Scientific Directors to foster a culture of safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance departmental performance.
  • Manage compliance requirements, including collection, preparation, and analysis of departmental reports and statistics.
  • Ensure appropriate methodology and equipment are in place and assist in the development of new methods or changes in existing methods.
  • Monitor quality control programs and processes, review and interpret QC results, and act to correct any potential issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure customer needs are addressed as needed.
  • Responsible for business planning, goal development, and scheduling for the department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in a healthcare-related field.
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist (CMLT) preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and engaging diverse teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills adapted to the needs of stakeholders.
  • Ability to foster relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in planning, preparing, and devising work schedules.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality standards for services and evaluation of processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistics and management reports.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in applying project management principles and techniques.
  • Ability to effectively manage constraints and competing priorities.
