Job Overview

This role encompasses a diverse array of HR-related functions and serves as a vital contributor within the HR department. The position engages in all facets of the employee life cycle, delivering extensive support across various programs and processes, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and employee development. A thorough understanding of employment legislation and compliance is essential. The Senior Generalist will also engage in HR project management and contribute to several operational priorities aimed at enhancing business outcomes and driving performance.

Shift: 5x2- Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Location: Calgary, AB
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Responsibilities

Acts as the primary contact for assisting employees and managers with inquiries, providing guidance on employee relations and HR policies. Collaborates closely with HR Managers and performance leaders on initiatives such as managing job descriptions, creating job requisitions, and preparing offer letters for successful candidates. Facilitates the complete employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring a positive employee experience through resource provisioning, introductory meetings, and employee feedback sessions. Maintains data integrity and consistency of HR employee transactions using various HRIS systems. Provides next-level support for pension and benefits administration, as well as vacation management when needed. Initiates discussions with HR Managers to identify areas for process improvement and opportunities across programs. Takes responsibility for staying informed on company policies and proactively identifies opportunities for revisions and communication of practices. Ensures compliance with evolving provincial legislation and alignment with organizational goals to mitigate business risks. Coordinates employee fringe benefit plans in collaboration with finance/payroll, including health and wellness programs. Manages semi-annual HR performance cycles in partnership with HR Managers and the team. Works with HR managers to facilitate corporate training initiatives. Oversees compliance with averaging agreements and variance arrangements across provinces. Generates people metrics and reporting as required. Promotes a safe and positive work environment by exemplifying HR and Komatsu's core values and best practices.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor's degree or a combination of formal education and experience in Human Resources. At least 5 years of progressive HR experience. Comprehensive knowledge of all HR functional areas, including employee relations, employment law, recruitment, performance management, and employee development. Proven ability to collaborate and build effective relationships with all levels of employee stakeholders. Strong HR administration skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple activities in a deadline-driven environment. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities. A dependable attitude with enthusiasm for innovation and process enhancement. Brings high energy to the team in pursuit of operational excellence. Familiarity with SAP Success Factors is an asset. Previous experience in the mining, manufacturing, or energy sectors is advantageous. Working towards CPHR designation is a plus. Willingness to travel 10 to 20% as required.
