Job Summary:

The Corporate Investigations Unit (CIU) at Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a highly motivated and seasoned professional to fill a 9-month temporary position of Investigator. This role will be based in Edmonton, Calgary, or Central zone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide investigative expertise, advice, and direction for workplace investigations in collaboration with the Protective Services Team.
  • Address patient and public concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Navigate complex and sensitive workplace investigations, ensuring investigations adhere to best practices and align with AHS' mission, vision, values, and core objectives.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, effective, and engaged workplace while building and nurturing relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Bring an innovative approach to developing and supporting the team, providing high-quality support in a client-centered and patient-focused integrated service delivery model.
  • Plan, organize, manage short and long-term projects, and deliver analytical and decision-making results as a senior member of the team.

Requirements:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in an Investigative capacity, ideally in a larger organization of similar complexity and diversity as AHS.
  • Experience with advanced interviews, violence risk management training, and major case management training and experience.
  • A minimum of post-secondary education or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in testifying at judicial and/or quasi-judicial venues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Flexibility to leave the local site to work out of town on short notice.

About the Role:

The CIU Investigator works closely with HR Business Partnerships, Patient Concerns, Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, and other internal and external partners as required. Conducting thorough, timely, and respectful workplace investigations, which result in transparent outcomes to enhance the public's trust and confidence in healthcare and AHS' commitment to professionalism across the broad range of services and programs.

Working within the Protective Services framework, CIU Investigators strive to enhance safety and wellness for all AHS employees by conducting threat, risk, and safety assessments and through professional interactions with partners in public safety and wellness.
