As a Senior Structural Restoration Engineer, you will be responsible for leading small to medium-sized restoration projects from investigation to design and contract administration. Your expertise in restoration of existing structures will be invaluable in helping us deliver exceptional results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement: Attend client meetings to obtain and present project information throughout the project.
  • Investigation and Assessment: Conduct thorough investigations and condition assessments of existing buildings and parking structures to identify deterioration and develop an understanding of the structural system.
  • Material Investigation: Investigate deteriorating reinforced concrete, structural steel, waterproofing, and expansion joint materials.
  • Training and Development: Assist with field training and review of field work completed by junior team members.
  • Reporting and Recommendations: Write reports based on observations, assessments, and key findings, including Condition Assessment Reports. Develop written recommendations for necessary repairs and work with clients to prioritize those repairs.
  • Design and Documentation: Prepare Structural designs and Restoration detail drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Contract Administration: Produce documentation for contract administration, such as bid review letters, proposed change notices, change orders, invoice review letters, and coordinate the contract between the Owner and Contractor.
  • Construction Review: Conduct field reviews, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction progress meetings.
  • Mentorship and Cost Management: Mentor junior team members in technical and contract administration roles and monitor internal project costs and review monthly invoicing.
Requirements
  • Professional Qualifications: Professional Engineer licensed in the Province of Alberta with a minimum of 7-10 years of Structural Restoration project experience.
  • Leadership and Communication: Ability to lead small to medium-sized structural/building restoration projects from investigation, through design and contract administration with limited guidance and supervision.
  • Client Relationships: Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and assist with business development initiatives.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of construction materials and products used in building construction, with a focus on concrete repair and restoration, corrosion protection, traffic toppings, expansion joints, and waterproofing systems.
  • Adaptability: Aptitude for working within existing facilities.
  • Business Development: Some experience assisting with business development efforts would be considered an asset.
  • Transportation: Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
