Aquatic Facility Supervisor

Job Summary:

The City of Iqaluit is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatic Facility Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Recreation Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests while providing high-quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and control activities in the aquatic facility, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Teach a wide variety of swim programs, including lessons for children and adults, and perform rescues and first aid as required.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Program Supervisor to develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of our community.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the aquatic facility, including the pool, surrounding areas, and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years of age with a grade 10 education.
  • National Lifeguard Service Award.
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
  • First Aid and CPR – C certification.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, and maintain required certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and split shifts.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • Pool Operations Level 1 certification.
  • First Aid and CPR Instructor certification.
  • Aquafit Certification (CALA, Canfit, Waterart).
  • NCCP Coaching Level 1 certification.
  • Experience working with a Recreation Management System.

Assets:

  • Ability to speak and write in English and Inuktitut.

Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate must provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector as well as a satisfactory TB Screening.
