Aquatic Centre Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor to join our team at the Aquatic Centre. As a Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests while on shift. This includes supervising pool activities, providing high-quality customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe aquatic facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and control activities in the pool area, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests
  • Provide high-quality customer service, responding to guest inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintain a clean and safe aquatic facility, adhering to all health and safety regulations
  • Teach a wide variety of swim programs, adapting to the needs and abilities of our guests
  • Perform rescues and first aid as required, exercising mature judgment and decision-making skills

Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification
  • Standard First Aid and CPR - C certification
  • WHMIS certification
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and split shifts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Ability to maintain required certifications
  • Excellent people skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good attendance and punctuality record

Assets:

  • Pool Operations Level 1 certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • High Five (PCD) certification
  • Aquafit certification (CALA, Canfit, waterart)
  • NCCP coaching Level 1 certification

Important Note:

Candidates must submit a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check, as well as evidence of a clear TB test, at the time of application. The Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor must be able to work a minimum of 5 hours to a maximum of 35 hours per week. The starting pay rate for this position is $29.13 per hour, plus applicable benefits.
