VG Meats is seeking a Sausage Kitchen Leader to oversee our Processing Department.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication abilities. This role involves leading, coordinating, and scheduling the activities of team members to ensure the successful execution of production plans, the smooth operation of processing machinery, and the management of inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor inventory levels of various meats, including beef, pork, poultry, and specialty items, to ensure recipe formulation aligns with production needs.
- Regularly check and maintain spice inventory as per established schedules.
- Address and resolve production challenges as they arise.
- Plan and optimize the use of the smokehouse.
- Gather data and prepare reports on production metrics.
- Ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Facilitate daily team meetings to align on objectives.
- Test and innovate new products and processes.
- Guide the personal development plans of team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a diploma in Meat Processing or a related field is preferred.
- 3 to 6 years of experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
- 3 to 6 years of experience operating processing equipment.
- Proficient in setting up and operating various processing machines, including sausage stuffers, industrial grinders, and smokers.
- Familiarity with meat formulation processes.
- Experience documenting recipe formulations and supervising team members.
- Ability to engage in KPI tracking and data entry.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
