Clinical Social Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a member of our Youth Forensic Services team, you will play a critical role in providing assessment, treatment, and case management services to youth who are involved with the justice system.
As a Clinical Social Worker, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based interventions and support to youth and their families. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing treatment plans, conducting assessments, and providing consultation and education to other professionals.

Your Qualifications- Masters Degree in Social Work required
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW)
- Minimum two (2) years clinical experience as a Masters prepared Social Worker working in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health is required
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill using an anti-oppressive, harm reduction, evidence-based treatment modality (i.e. CBT)
- Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Children and Family Services Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada required
- Clinical experience in a community mental health/forensics setting preferred and experience in case management and working with youth preferred
- Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of assessment and treatment with a variety of treatment modalities; knowledge and experience with DSM-V
- Comprehensive understanding of community-based services and resources preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent time management and organizational skills required
- Ability to function autonomously and within the inter-professional team
- Skills of collaboration, consultation, liaison, and negotiation with clients/family, team members, justice service providers, schools, community support services, inpatient services, and other partners
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email, etc.)
- Must have a valid NS Driver's License, regular use of a reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance. Travel as required. Compensation is paid
