About the Opportunity

The Healthcare Social Worker reports to the Program Manager and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, provides a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health. These interventions include:

  • Psychosocial assessments
  • Adjustment therapy
  • Supportive therapy
  • Crisis counseling
  • Resource counseling
  • Discharge planning
  • Case management

The Healthcare Social Worker is actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation, and collaboration on behalf of individuals/groups within the institution and community. The role is multifaceted and dynamic requiring the Healthcare Social Worker to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.

The Social Worker may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthcare Social Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work from a recognized university
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the NSCSW
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience as a clinical Social Worker
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of human behavior, including systems theory, family dynamics, group dynamics, and theories of behavior change
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be an asset
  • Competencies in other languages would be an asset, with French being preferred

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
