About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Healthcare Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide a range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health. Your expertise will include psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counseling, resource counseling, discharge planning, and case management.

You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with complex chronic health conditions. Your knowledge of local community resources and agencies will be an asset in providing holistic care to our patients.

We are looking for a candidate with a Master's Degree in Social Work from a recognized university and registration with the NSCSW. You will have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a clinical Social Worker and knowledge of the fundamentals of human behavior, including systems theory, family dynamics, group dynamics, and theories of behavior change.

About You
  • You have a strong understanding of the principles of social work and the ability to apply them in a healthcare setting.
  • You are able to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • You are able to provide education and support to patients and families, and to facilitate group sessions as needed.
  • You have a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and access to a reliable automobile.
Hours

This is a long assignment, part-time position with approximately 45 hours bi-weekly. The assignment is expected to last for approximately 18 months.
