About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Healthcare Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide a range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting psychosocial assessments and providing adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counseling, and resource counseling
  • Developing and implementing discharge plans and providing case management services
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Providing education and support to patients and their families

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university, registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and at least two years of clinical experience as a social worker. Knowledge of human behavior, including systems theory, family dynamics, group dynamics, and theories of behavior change, is essential. Experience working with patients with complex chronic health conditions is preferred.
