Resident Care Specialist

Job Summary:
The Resident Care Specialist provides high-quality care to residents living in a small home environment. The primary role of this position is to protect, sustain optimal health, and nurture residents by providing assistance with activities of daily living, and meeting other resident needs as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized care and support to residents, promoting their independence and dignity.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, ensuring residents' dietary needs are met.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment, including laundry and housekeeping duties.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, in collaboration with the Nurse and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, promoting their mental and emotional well-being.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and staff, ensuring their needs are met and concerns are addressed.
- Work collaboratively with the Nurse and other healthcare professionals to ensure residents receive comprehensive care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Grade Xll education required.
- Health Care Aide Certificate from recognized program.
- Foundation to Therapeutic Recreation or willing to obtain.
- Food Handler Training Certificate or willing to obtain.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic computer skills, including Outlook/Email, and ability to adapt easily to online training programs.
- Minimum of one-year recent relevant experience preferred.
- Experience working with an older adult population.
- Demonstrated compassionate, empathetic, and nurturing personality.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to care for the older adult population.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with residents, their families, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with others.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve within the responsibilities of the position.
- Demonstrated ability to work under specified time constraints and in accordance with routines, while observing policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated flexibility in adjusting to a changing environment.
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
- Proficiency in both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality, including paper, electronic formats, and other mediums.
- Good work and attendance record.
Conditions of Employment:
- Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
- All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy.
