Job Summary:
The Resident Care Specialist provides high-quality care to residents living in a small home environment. This role is responsible for protecting, sustaining optimal health, and nurturing residents by providing assistance with activities of daily living and meeting other resident needs as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including personal care, grooming, and mobility
- Meet the physical and emotional needs of residents, promoting quality of life and dignity
- Provide stimulating activities and care for the residents' environment, including nutrition, laundry, and housekeeping
- Work collaboratively with the Nurse and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
- Exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods
Requirements:
- Grade Xll education required
- Health Care Aide Certificate from recognized program
- Foundation to Therapeutic Recreation or willing to obtain
- Food Handler Training Certificate or willing to obtain
- Knowledge and understanding of basic computer skills, including Outlook/Email, and ability to adapt easily to online training programs
- Minimum of one-year recent relevant experience preferred
- Experience working with an older adult population
- Demonstrated compassionate, empathetic, and nurturing personality
- Demonstrated ability and desire to care for the older adult population
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing situations
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
- Proficiency in both official languages is essential for this position
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality
- Good work and attendance record
Conditions of Employment:
- Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate
- All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Pan Am Clinic policy
