Job Summary:

VON Canada is seeking a skilled and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our team. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to clients in their homes or communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate client needs to develop and implement personalized care plans.
  • Provide companionship, personal care, and health maintenance services to clients, including assistance with daily living activities, medication management, and mobility support.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Monitor and report any changes in client condition or needs to supervisors and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of client interactions and care provided.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; secondary school education preferred.
  • CCA Certification in Nova Scotia; certificate in Home Support Worker (Level I, II, III), Personal Support Worker program, or Health Care Aide required.
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed.
  • Some household management experience and experience working with elderly or ill individuals or children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Working Conditions:

  • Must have access to a personal vehicle for work and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry using appropriate lifting techniques; bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics.
