Your Role

The Major Projects Legal Counsel position focuses on alternative project delivery methods, including design-build, progressive design-build, P3, Alliance, and Integrated Project Delivery. This role is integral to Stantec's Commercial Risk Governance group.

The Major Projects Legal Counsel will collaborate closely with Project teams and provide support to the Director of Commercial Risk Governance. This position is ideal for legal professionals with a strong understanding of business and commercial dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts and legal documents.
  2. Assist Project teams in managing risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  3. Contribute to the development and assessment of formal Project documentation, including claims and dispute responses.
  4. Support the Director of Commercial Risk Governance in creating resources, templates, and reference materials.
  5. Enhance relationships with Project teams by understanding Stantec's business and proactively improving risk management practices.

Education and Experience

  1. Juris Doctorate or equivalent legal qualification with bar admission in the United States or Canada.
  2. 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  3. Experience in alternative project delivery is essential.
