Overview

Our Functional Services Teams (FSTs) encompass various disciplines, including Corporate Development, Finance, Human Resources, Health, Safety, Security and Environment, Information Technology, Legal, Marketing/Communications, Practice Services, and Real Estate and Procurement. This collaboration of talents and expertise is essential to strengthening our organization.
Your Role
The Senior Legal Advisor for Major Projects will focus on alternative project delivery methods, including design-build, progressive design-build, public-private partnerships (P3), alliances, and integrated project delivery. This role is integral to Stantec's Commercial Risk Governance group.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project teams and provide support to the Director of Commercial Risk Governance. This position is ideal for legal professionals with a robust understanding of business and commercial dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts and legal documents.
- Assist project teams in the daily management and execution of projects, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Contribute to the creation and assessment of formal project documentation, including notices and responses to claims and disputes.
- Support the Director of Commercial Risk Governance in developing resources, templates, and reference materials.
- Foster and enhance relationships with project teams by gaining a comprehensive understanding of Stantec's operations and proactively enhancing risk management practices.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Credentials

- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Education and Experience
- Juris Doctorate or equivalent legal degree with admission to the bar in the United States or Canada.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in alternative project delivery is required.
