About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Commercial Risk Governance team at Stantec. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of major projects and ensuring that our business is well-positioned to manage risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Review and Negotiation
Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts and other legal documentation to ensure that they align with our business objectives and mitigate potential risks.
Risk ManagementSupport our project teams in identifying and managing risks, and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate them.
Project DocumentationAssist in the development and review of formal project documentation, such as notices and responses to claims and disputes.
Commercial Risk GovernanceSupport the Director of Commercial Risk Governance in reviewing and developing resources, templates, and reference materials to ensure that our business is well-equipped to manage commercial risks.
Relationship BuildingBuild and maintain strong relationships with our project teams, stakeholders, and other business units to ensure that our commercial risk governance practices are aligned with our business objectives.
Requirements
- Education and Experience
Possess a Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree and be admitted to the bar in the United States or Canada.
Professional Experience3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in alternative project delivery (APD) and commercial risk management.
Skills and QualificationsProven ability to work as part of a team, with strong drafting skills, business acumen, and excellent communication skills.
