Job Summary

The Tape Department Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the Tape Department's performance, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and analytical abilities to drive results and ensure a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Tape Department, including Tape Lines, Repro, and Coreline equipment across multiple shifts.
  • Plan, supervise, and direct daily production operations, anticipating and resolving production problems, such as material shortages, equipment malfunctions, and employee-related situations.
  • Coach and develop the team, focusing on employee growth and development.
  • Participate in the selection and interview process for hourly employee positions.
  • Conduct employee reviews and maintain training and performance documentation.
  • Initiate efforts to introduce cost reductions and drive continuous improvements in methods or equipment.
  • Supervise and lead departmental safety and housekeeping practices, maintaining a constant alert for hazardous conditions.
  • Educate employees on company rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, including safety rules and quality expectations.
  • Manage hourly employee performance, including administering discipline when necessary.
  • Lead and participate in company-sponsored activities, such as training, site projects, and safety programs.
  • Perform production-related administrative tasks, such as payroll hours approval, reporting, and associated tasks.
  • Provide quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing and developing teams in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role required.
  • Previous experience in extrusion and/or a demonstrated ability to learn and develop these skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills essential.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with demonstrated skills in making sound decisions, critical.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to achieve results.
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and successfully manage change.
  • A dedicated team player who works well cross-functionally.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office, with a focus on Excel, an asset.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing a strong asset.
