In alignment with the Internal Audit Division Charter and under the guidance of the Environmental Audit Coordinator, you will undertake various tasks related to assurance and consulting engagements. These engagements evaluate the effectiveness of Manitoba Hydro's environmental management system (EMS) and its adherence to environmental laws and regulations.

This role requires air travel, and candidates must meet Transport Canada's travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining an ISO 14001 EMS Audit Program and an Environmental Compliance Site Visit Audit Program.
  • Plan, develop, and execute comprehensive audit programs to assess Manitoba Hydro's EMS, environmental controls, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Propose strategies to enhance environmental performance and mitigate risks.
  • Engage with all audit stakeholders to build strong relationships, fulfill engagement requirements, and ensure timely resolution of audit issues.
  • Prepare and present oral and written reports to management at all levels.
  • Stay updated on changes to environmental compliance obligations and relevant standards.
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Environmental Audit Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree from a recognized institution in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of five years of experience in an Internal Audit setting. OR
  • A professional designation from a recognized institution in a relevant discipline, with at least four years of experience in an Internal Audit environment. OR
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with a minimum of two years of experience in an Internal Audit context.
  • Additional qualifications such as a master’s degree in a related field or Environmental Management System Lead Auditor Certification are considered assets.
  • Familiarity with environmental management frameworks and legislation at various governmental levels.
  • Understanding of environmental impacts and risks in the utility sector.
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • High analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and adhere to professional standards.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
  • Willingness to travel by various modes of transportation.

Salary Range: Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience, with a range of $42.28-$58.34 per hour, equating to an annual salary of $81,019.90-$111,796.10.
