Environmental Compliance Auditor at Manitoba Hydro

This position is designed for individuals with a strong background in environmental management and auditing. The successful candidate will be engaged in a variety of tasks that support assurance and consulting projects.

As part of the Internal Audit Division, you will:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Manitoba Hydro's Environmental Management System (EMS) in achieving its objectives and complying with relevant environmental regulations.
  • Assist in the creation, execution, and upkeep of an ISO 14001 EMS Audit Program and an Environmental Compliance Site Visit Audit Program.
  • Develop comprehensive audit plans to assess environmental controls and compliance in line with established auditing standards.
  • Propose actionable strategies to enhance environmental performance and mitigate risks.
  • Stay informed about evolving environmental compliance requirements and standards.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A four-year degree in a relevant field, complemented by at least five years of experience in an Internal Audit context.
  • A professional designation in a related discipline, with a minimum of four years of relevant experience.
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with at least two years of Internal Audit experience.
  • Advanced education such as a master's degree in a related field or certification as an Environmental Management System Lead Auditor.

Additionally, a solid understanding of environmental management frameworks, legislation, and the utility sector's environmental impacts is essential. Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools will be considered an advantage.
