SECOND OFFICER/RELIEF CHIEF OFFICER

Casual Position

BC Ferries

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marine Officer to fill a casual position with BC Ferries. As a Second Officer, Relief Chief Officer, you will be responsible for standing watch as the Navigating Officer of the vessel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have considerable knowledge of navigating equipment and techniques, corporate policies and procedures, international, federal, and provincial regulations, safety and emergency procedures, ship handling principles, stability, seamanship, and deck maintenance.
  • Be able to adapt to varying business requirements and demonstrate a flexible attitude.
  • Hold a valid Chief Mate, Near Coastal Certificate or higher, and a valid Seafarer's Medical certificate.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of marine operations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
