Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Correctional Officer to join our team at the Ontario Public Service. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our correctional facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Training: You will be required to have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and be willing to undergo training.
  • Asset Languages: Proficiency in Cree and Ojibwa languages is an asset.
  • Work Setting: You will be working in a correctional facility environment, which can be fast-paced and physically demanding.
  • Certifications and Licenses: You will be required to hold a First Aid Certificate and a CPR Certificate.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: You will be required to work in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking environments, with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Personal Suitability: You will be required to demonstrate dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, judgement, reliability, and team player skills.
  • Financial Benefits: You will be eligible for financial benefits as per the collective agreement.
  • Other Benefits: You will be eligible for a wellness program and will work a temporary term with 40 to 48 hours per week.
