We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Correctional Officer to join our team at the Ontario Public Service. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for inmates and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security and Custody: Ensure the safety and security of inmates and staff by enforcing rules and regulations, conducting searches, and monitoring inmate activities.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Develop and maintain effective relationships with inmates, staff, and community partners through excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Education and Training: Provide educational and vocational training programs to inmates to promote rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
  • Asset Languages: Utilize your proficiency in Cree and Ojibwa languages to communicate with Indigenous inmates and provide culturally sensitive services.
  • Work Setting: Work in a fast-paced correctional facility environment, adapting to changing situations and priorities.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Possess a First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate, demonstrating your commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Physical Demands: Meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, and lifting, while maintaining attention to detail and working under pressure.
  • Personal Suitability: Demonstrate dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, judgment, reliability, and a strong sense of values and ethics.
