Job Summary

We are seeking a Correctional Officer to join our team at the Ontario Public Service. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of correctional facilities, as well as providing support to inmates and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce institutional rules and regulations, ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff.
  • Provide support and guidance to inmates, promoting their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
  • Collaborate with other correctional staff to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Will train.
  • Asset languages: Cree, Ojibwa.
  • Work setting: Correctional facility.
  • Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate.
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, physically demanding.
  • Personal suitability: Dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, judgement, reliability, team player, values and ethics.
  • Financial benefits: As per collective agreement.
  • Other benefits: Wellness program, work term: temporary, work language: English or French, hours: 40 to 48 hours per week.
