Job Overview

We are seeking an Accounting Associate to become a vital part of our financial department. Your responsibilities will encompass compiling and reviewing financial data, preparing financial documentation, assisting with payroll processing, and maintaining comprehensive records. Additionally, you will be tasked with performing general administrative duties.

To excel as an Accounting Associate, familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems is essential, along with a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess a keen attention to detail, have a passion for numbers, and be capable of nurturing strong relationships with our customers, vendors, and colleagues.

This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting monthly reconciliations of balance sheets for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing and processing payments to vendors, suppliers, and employees.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of monthly HST and WSIB returns, including filing and remitting payments to the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Managing full cycle accounts payable, including invoice preparation, filing, expense forms, and invoice matching.
  • Handling full cycle accounts receivable, which includes invoicing for residential and commercial orders, collecting payments, recording deposits, and assisting the service department with residential collections.
  • Assisting with various accounting tasks as needed, such as journal entries, expense reports, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions, both electronic and physical.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding accounting-related inquiries and issues.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping capacity.
  • Payroll experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Working knowledge of HST, WSIB, and payroll regulations.
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or NAV is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Work Schedule:
