Accountant Associate Job Description

At StandardAero, we are seeking a highly skilled Accountant Associate to join our team. As an Accountant Associate, you will play a critical role in maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial reports, and analyzing transactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform professional accounting work in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the general ledger, assist in preparing income and balance sheet statements, and perform detailed analysis of transactions or balances.
  • Classify and/or review recording of routine to complex accounting transactions.
  • Prepare financial reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform reconciliation of accounts from the general ledger by researching online and record sources and preparing correcting journal entries as required.
  • Prepare and update documentation of account descriptions, transaction processing, and system processes.
  • Ensure accounting systems and procedures are in compliance with company policies, acceptable accounting practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Identify accounting problems, research possible solutions, form conclusions to present to members of the management team or other individuals involved, and process corrections accordingly.
  • Interact with and advise various functional groups and remote locations in order to correct problem situations.
  • Assist with the preparation of month-end and year-end closings.
  • Assist in the preparation of working papers for periodic government, external, or internal audits.
  • Produce a variety of ad-hoc reporting. Assist in preparation of reports for external reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carry out special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Working knowledge of integrated financial systems.
  • Good planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision-making, oral, and written communication skills.
  • University degree in commerce, business administration, economics, or related field; or equivalent.
  • Designated or enrolled in a recognized professional accounting program (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA, or CFM); or equivalent.
