Canada Disabilityinstitute Full time

Since its inception, the Disability Management Institute has been dedicated to delivering comprehensive claims oversight and evaluation services to clients across Canada.

YOUR ROLE

As a Health and Rehabilitation Consultant, you will operate as a Self-Employed sub-contractor, possessing exceptional verbal and written communication skills to provide services throughout Canada. Our approach emphasizes a "holistic outcomes" methodology, aiming to identify the underlying factors contributing to unnecessary or extended absences.

YOUR IMPACT

Your responsibilities will include offering a diverse range of rehabilitation services to a wide array of clients within both the Insurance and Employer sectors. The primary goal is to support clients in achieving a more productive lifestyle, including facilitating their return to work. This will be accomplished through the creation of timely and cost-effective rehabilitation strategies and coordination, while positively influencing the claims management process.

  • Act as a specialist in rehabilitation management, conducting interviews, assessments, and evaluations of health-related factors to ascertain levels of ability and employability.
  • Evaluate clients to establish appropriate rehabilitation objectives in accordance with insurer policy guidelines.
  • Provide analytical interpretations of medical records and other relevant data.
  • Design and implement cost-efficient rehabilitation programs that align with contractual obligations while adhering to the standards set by DMI.
  • Utilize both external and internal resources as needed to advance cases towards resolution, focusing on functionality and gainful employment.
  • Oversee external referrals, services, and partnerships with service providers and strategic collaborators, leveraging knowledge of local community resources.
  • Possess a solid understanding of job descriptions and job demands in relation to functional capabilities.
  • Engage in professional interactions with clients, employers, insurers, and union representatives regularly, ensuring timely and effective follow-up on communications.
  • Deliver prompt and thorough documentation and reporting to facilitate the progression and achievement of rehabilitation objectives.

THIS IS YOU

  • Possess 3-5 years of experience in injury management, recovery, disability, and rehabilitation.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of compiling and generating detailed, accurate, and comprehensive reports.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, practices, and professional integrity.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, showcasing superior oral and written communication skills, solid organizational abilities, and the capacity to coordinate multiple vocational programs simultaneously.

THIS IS NICE

  • Hold a relevant post-secondary degree in Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation, or Physical Therapy (with appropriate designation).
  • Maintain a good standing relationship with a relevant regulatory body (e.g., BCAK, CAOT-BC) and/or be a member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRA).

WHAT YOU'LL GET

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Access to training, ongoing development, and support.
  • Opportunity to work in an engaging team environment.

Please note that this role is an ongoing posting, and only successful candidates will be contacted as we continue to expand our teams. This position is available for candidates located in Canada on a remote basis.
