YOUR ROLE

As a self-employed sub-contracted Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist/Employment Consultant, you will deliver a diverse range of vocational rehabilitation services to a wide array of clients within the Insurance and Employer sectors. Your responsibilities will encompass vocational assessments, job search coaching, and ongoing monitoring programs tailored for adult clients. This includes assisting clients with crafting resumes, honing interview techniques, and identifying job opportunities. A background in conducting Transferable Skills Analysis (TSA) and offering vocational guidance is essential. Experience in vocational or psychometric testing is advantageous. This position allows for remote work, with the expectation of in-person meetings at various locations.

YOUR IMPACT

Bringing a wealth of experience in disability management best practices, you will navigate the complexities of injury, recovery, disability, and rehabilitation. Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills will enable you to compile and produce detailed, accurate reports. Upholding high ethical standards and professional integrity is crucial. Additional requirements include the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating exceptional oral and written communication skills, robust organizational abilities, and proficiency in technology to coordinate various vocational programs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate employment obstacles and provide vocational counseling to formulate effective return-to-work and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Conduct Transferable Skills Analysis and vocational evaluations.
  • Leverage both internal and external resources to advance cases towards resolution, focusing on functional capabilities and sustainable employment.
  • Oversee external referrals and maintain relationships with service providers and strategic partners through thorough research and knowledge of community resources.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the labor market, including expertise in job matching using the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.
  • Interpret job descriptions and demands in relation to clients' functional abilities.
  • Facilitate job search skills training and provide personalized job search assistance.
  • Offer tailored Job Sustainment support to clients and employers when on-the-job assistance is necessary.
  • Deliver timely, in-depth documentation and reporting to ensure the achievement of rehabilitation objectives.

THIS IS YOU

  • 3-5 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, job development, and disability management.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as disability studies, vocational counseling, rehabilitation counseling, social work, physiotherapy, psychology, occupational therapy, or kinesiology.
  • Possession of CVRP, CCVE, ICVE, or CVRP TSA designation or immediate eligibility and a willingness to pursue the designation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to generate detailed, accurate reports.
  • Strong ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment while demonstrating superior communication skills.
  • Solid IT skills to navigate various online platforms, communication tools, Microsoft Office, and email communications.

  • Good standing with a relevant regulatory body (e.g., BCAK, CAOT-BC) and/or membership in the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRAC).
