Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently in search of a Veeva Vault Solution Architect.

Role Overview
As a Solution Architect leading a team, you will play a vital role in advancing our digital initiatives within our agile organization. Our agile framework consists of two main components – Digital Capability and Digital Execution. Digital Execution focuses on aligning various missions with business objectives and facilitating broader collaboration. Conversely, Digital Capability emphasizes the growth and development of individuals within specialized areas of expertise. This dual structure allows us to efficiently scale agile practices while maintaining a focus on both product development and individual skill enhancement.

A Solution Architect will possess extensive, cross-domain knowledge of business applications, capabilities, and processes, enabling them to design, implement, and contribute innovative solutions that optimize the DigitalX architectural landscape. Responsibilities will include leading stakeholder collaboration, analyzing functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring adherence to design standards, providing technology recommendations, creating solution prototypes, and managing constraints such as cost, quality, scope, and resources, while assisting project leads in estimating costs, resources, and timelines throughout the project lifecycle. You will be at the forefront of implementing innovative solutions and will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in your field.

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Design and Development: Create comprehensive application solutions that address business challenges, focusing on scalable, secure, and maintainable architectural designs.
• Technology Selection: Assess and select suitable technologies and platforms for application development projects, considering performance, scalability, security, and integration capabilities.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with business analysts, project managers, and digital teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and technology standards.
• Initiatives & CI/CD Oversight: Provide technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle, from concept to implementation and support, guiding teams to adhere to architectural designs and best practices.
• Integration Architecture: Design and oversee the integration of new applications with existing systems, ensuring seamless operation and data consistency across the organization.
• Performance Optimization: Ensure application solutions are optimized for performance and user experience, conducting system performance analysis and recommending enhancements.
• Compliance and Security: Ensure application architectures comply with relevant regulations and standards, incorporating security measures to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities.
• Documentation: Develop detailed documentation for application architectures, including design specifications, integration patterns, and deployment guidelines.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members within the subdivision and across other digital and business units.
• Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing learning and professional development to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in your area of expertise.
• Innovation: Contribute innovative ideas and approaches to enhance project outcomes and digital capabilities.
• Reporting: Regularly report on initiative progress and outcomes/value to your Capability Lead and team members.
• Problem-Solving: Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and deliver effective solutions.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality and consistency in the work delivered.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Marketing.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience in the Pharma R&D sector (Clinical operations preferred).
• Direct experience implementing or consulting on recognized Life Sciences technologies.
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in digital capability areas (Veeva R&D Vault).
• Experience with Veeva configuration and implementation.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong background in software development with expertise in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, .NET, Python), databases/data lakes, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Architectural Knowledge: Deep understanding of architectural principles and design patterns, microservices, API design, and development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps).
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex business processes and datasets to create optimal technology solutions. Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges during the project lifecycle.
• Communication and Leadership: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and lead development teams. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying current with emerging technologies, programming languages, and industry best practices.
• Certifications in specific technologies, architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), and Agile delivery methodologies (e.g., SAFe) are advantageous.
• Knowledge of Software Validation processes and requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred:

• Agile Champion: Adherence to DevOps principles and a proven track record with CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.
