About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Customer Quality Specialist to join our team at Magna International Inc. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality in our products and services, while also providing exceptional customer support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate containment and sort/rework actions for external and internal issues
  • Lead and coordinate problem-solving for customer concerns, including 8D, 7-step, 5-phase, Is/Is Not, 6-panel, and other customer-specific reports
  • Participate in customer quality meetings and manage field representatives to ensure effective containment and timely closure of customer concerns
  • Perform customer goodwill visits as required and identify quality improvement and defect prevention opportunities
  • Develop and implement mistake/error-proofing fixtures and devices to improve quality and efficiency
  • Facilitate quality-related meetings for assigned products and keep up-to-date meeting minutes
  • Lead and coordinate problem-solving for internal concern resolution and coordinate and approve shop floor containment process
  • Update Business Center panels and participate in report-out meetings, including QOS/Stepdown/Work Packages
  • Participate in the approval process of temporary deviations to current product and processes
  • Participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA) and support closure of open items found during the audit
  • Review and support work orders for engineering changes, special build, and service
  • Participate in 5S implementation and perform daily line walks/audits on assigned assembly lines
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping
  • Participate in Troubled Incident Report (TIR) investigation and prepare 8D report
  • Assist PQ inspectors/Fixture engineer to maintain T&E/durability fixtures
  • Train Inspectors/Operators on proper inspection techniques
  • Support reduction/elimination of added operators and review/assess process improvements
  • Suggest part design alternatives to reduce costs and support Business Center initiatives to reduce scrap and improve efficiency
  • Provide timely disposition on QPF/DMN material (on hold or rejected products)
  • Identify and implement labor savings opportunities (direct and indirect) where feasible
  • Conduct self-audits to current procedures as assigned and lead the resolution of Corrective Action Requests as assigned
  • Participate in Quality Systems Audits with customer and external auditors
Requirements
  • Completion of community college diploma/certificate
  • 3 to less than 5 years of work-related experience
  • Minimum completion of post-secondary education program in mechanical/quality engineering
  • Above-average computer skills necessary in Microsoft applications, Team Center, Compliant Pro, and Minitab experience an asset
  • Core Tools knowledge
  • Sound knowledge in Measurement System Analysis and Statistical Process Control
  • ASQC certification as a quality engineer (CQE) preferred
  • Experience with Tier 1 automotive preferred
  • A-Level requires a minimum of 5 years related manufacturing experience in a high-speed assembly/manufacturing environment
  • X-Ray Safety Officer Preferred (ECU operations)
  • IPC Certified Trainer Preferred (ECU operations)
  • Experience in Customer portals preferred
