About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are met in our manufacturing processes.

Your Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Coordinating containment and rework actions for external and internal issues
  • Leading and coordinating problem-solving for customer concerns, including 8D, 7-step, 5-phase, Is/Is Not, 6-panel, and other customer-specific reports
  • Participating in customer quality meetings and managing field representatives to ensure effective containment and timely closure of customer concerns
  • Performing customer goodwill visits as required
  • Identifying quality improvement and defect prevention opportunities and developing and implementing mistake/error-proofing fixtures and devices
  • Facilitating quality-related meetings for assigned products and keeping up-to-date meeting minutes
  • Leading and coordinating problem-solving for internal concern resolution
  • Coordinating and approving shop floor containment processes and following up on execution
  • Updating Business Center panels and participating in report-out meetings, including QOS/Stepdown/Work Packages
  • Participating in the approval process of temporary deviations to current products and processes
  • Participating in Layered Process Audits (LPA) and supporting closure of open items found during the audit
  • Reviewing and supporting work orders for engineering changes, special builds, and services
  • Participating in 5S implementation and performing daily line walks/audits on assigned assembly lines
  • Maintaining safety and good housekeeping
  • Participating in Troubled Incident Report (TIR) investigations and preparing 8D reports
  • Assisting PQ inspectors/Fixture engineers to maintain T&E/durability fixtures
  • Training inspectors/operators on proper inspection techniques
  • Suggesting part design alternatives to reduce costs and supporting Business Center initiatives to reduce scrap and improve efficiency
  • Providing timely disposition on QPF/DMN material (on hold or rejected products)
  • Identifying and implementing labor savings opportunities (direct and indirect) where feasible
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of a community college diploma/certificate
  • 3 to less than 5 years of work-related experience
  • Minimum completion of a post-secondary education program in mechanical/quality engineering
  • Above-average computer skills in Microsoft applications, Team Center, Compliant Pro, and Minitab experience an asset
  • Core Tools knowledge
  • Sound knowledge in Measurement System Analysis and Statistical Process Control
  • ASQC certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
  • Experience with Tier 1 automotive preferred
  • A-Level requires a minimum of 5 years related manufacturing experience in a high-speed assembly/manufacturing environment
  • X-Ray Safety Officer preferred (ECU operations)
  • IPC Certified Trainer preferred (ECU operations)
  • Experience in Customer Portals preferred
