Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Worker to join our facilities team at Howard Johnson Grande Prairie. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building systems and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Systems Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Contractor Coordination: Contact and coordinate with external contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Appliance Repair: Perform minor repairs on appliances and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain a high level of service quality.
  • Safety and Security Checks: Conduct regular safety and security checks to identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring a secure environment for all.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and assist other maintenance team members as needed, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Physical Demands: Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and kneeling, to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field, with a focus on building maintenance and repair.
  • Language: Fluency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff.
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work varied shifts and respond to emergency situations.
