Position Overview:
The Logistics and Shipping Specialist at Merit Kitchens is responsible for managing the transportation and logistics of products, ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to customer delivery expectations across Canada, the United States, and internationally. This role involves coordinating and tracking the movement of finished products.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee shipping logistics, including the arrangement of pickups.
  • Evaluate and negotiate freight charges, providing internal and distributor freight quotes.
  • Respond to inquiries from both internal and external sources regarding shipping details such as quotes, schedules, and delivery dates.
  • Identify effective and economical transportation methods for goods via road and air, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Prepare shipments in advance based on established schedules.
  • Communicate shipping notifications to clients through Customer Service prior to actual shipment dates.
  • Plan and manage shipping operations, assess space requirements, and guarantee prompt delivery to customers.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of documentation, including shipping labels, bills of lading, and invoices.
  • Solicit competitive quotes through RFQ processes and select optimal rates and transit times.

Job Requirements:
  • Diploma in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping logistics within a manufacturing setting, preferably in Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturing.
  • Valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification.
  • Familiarity with waybills, bills of lading, and international shipping processes.
  • Understanding of freight rate calculations and safe packing techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with material handling equipment is advantageous.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 Training is a plus.

The Logistics and Shipping Specialist may undertake additional tasks as directed by Management.
