Chief Technology Officer
On behalf of CB Canada, we are seeking a Chief Technology Officer for a full-time permanent role. In this capacity, you will oversee the entire portfolio, including software engineering and development, managing an offshore team, IT support, cybersecurity, infrastructure for both office and field operations, and the delivery of organizational information systems utilizing DevOps methodologies.

Chief Technology Officer - Position Overview

  • This role is responsible for shaping the future direction of CB Canada's IT environments, encompassing offshore operations and departmental personnel while supporting the operational success of various business units.
  • CB Canada is committed to significant investments aimed at enhancing both online and in-store customer experiences.
  • The Chief Technology Officer will collaborate with all organizational levels to ensure that technology and the IT team are prepared to adapt to forthcoming changes.

Chief Technology Officer - Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, execute, and assess suitable IT governance frameworks to ensure that IT strategies and initiatives align with the company's mission and objectives.
  • Design and implement forward-thinking strategies that facilitate effective and innovative use of information technology and offshore operations in line with the strategic business direction.
  • Establish and promote best practices throughout the organization while ensuring that objectives are met.
  • Oversee risk management, resource distribution, project prioritization, and the evaluation of new systems and software solutions.
  • Collaborate with leadership across the organization to develop multi-year strategic IT plans that reflect changes in IT environments.
  • Lead the creation, distribution, and oversight of IT budgets and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term business strategies.
  • Engage as an executive team member in strategic planning to define the organization's multi-year objectives and execution strategies.
  • Direct the development, revision, and implementation of policies related to IT usage, security, and practices.
  • Establish clear processes, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistent application of IT policies across the organization.
  • Foster a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and developmental opportunities to enhance team performance and enable direct reports to fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Set clear performance standards and objectives for all team members and hold them accountable for achieving these goals.
  • Ensure that established performance objectives for staff align with the overall strategic goals of the division and the organization.
  • Maintain high staff performance through effective human resource practices, including recruitment, training, development, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Manage a team of 75 associates in Canada and an offshore team of 60 associates.
  • Collaborate across all business units to enhance operational effectiveness in a wide range of strategic and professional decisions.
  • Understand business needs and ensure that IT objectives align with desired outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships across all departments and with external partners to stay current with industry trends and explore collaboration opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify and mitigate risks associated with IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to enterprise risk management processes and initiatives.

Chief Technology Officer - Required Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience in IT roles with a strong background in software development.
  • 10+ years in a Director-level position or higher, including experience in developing organizational change strategies, managing offshore teams, and overseeing IT budgets.
  • Extensive IT and business knowledge within the financial services sector, including tax preparation software, retail banking, wealth management, and fintech.
  • Proven track record of successful implementation of digital and eCommerce IT solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of modern computer science principles, methodologies, and practices.
  • Experience with Agile, DevOps, Microsoft Azure, Project Management, Business Relationship Management, ITIL, and IT Service Management is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective oral and written communication.
