Douglas College seeks a dynamic and experienced International Education Manager to lead our growing international student recruitment and engagement efforts.

Reporting directly to the Director, International Education, this role will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of international education at Douglas College. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives that attract, support, and retain a diverse and thriving international student population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive international marketing and recruitment strategies to achieve enrollment targets across various programs and disciplines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international government offices, trade commissioners, visa offices, and embassies/consulates to promote Douglas College's academic offerings and facilitate student admissions.
  • Ensure that International Marketing and Recruitment staff have access to professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in the ever-evolving field of international education.
  • Oversee a variety of special projects related to international activities, contributing to the overall success of the department.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment by adhering to College policies and procedures, actively participating in training programs, and demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
To Be Successful in This Role You Will Need:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Marketing, Education, International Studies, Administration, Social Sciences, Organizational Leadership); graduate or postgraduate level preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of related work experience, including at least three years of diversified management experience in the International Education field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in international strategic enrollment management (SEM), with evidence of successful recruitment and retention results using SEM methodologies.
  • Significant experience and proven success in international marketing and recruitment, as well as student services.
  • Extensive knowledge of the post-secondary system and current trends in Canada and internationally.
  • Successful experience collaborating with faculty members, administrators, and senior management to achieve International Education goals, including facilitating work-related experiences and placements for international students.
  • Thorough understanding of federal Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada policies and procedures, as well as other national/provincial policies related to international students in post-secondary education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation, mediation, diplomacy, conflict resolution, and intercultural communication, with a demonstrated commitment to collaborative and consultative processes.
  • Excellent English language written and verbal skills, including strong report, letter, and speech writing abilities, as well as public speaking proficiency; second language preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of significant budgets.
  • Experience in employee recruitment, selection, and performance management, particularly in a unionized environment.
  • Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) and/or Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC) certification preferred.
