Learning Strategist Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Strategist Instructor to join our team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. As a key member of our Learning Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Enhance Learning Strategies: Assist students in developing effective learning strategies that foster academic confidence and success.
- Content Integration: Develop ways to integrate skill development through appropriate laddering, scaffolding, and timing of content learning activities.
- Course Support: Provide course- and program-specific learning support to students.
- Online and Face-to-Face Support: Offer services online and face-to-face to students, assisting them in enhancing effective learning and self-management strategies.
- Workshop Development: Design and deliver workshops for students and faculty on academic and learning skills, including working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Tutor Training: Collaborate in the design, development, and delivery of curriculum for tutor training, ensuring quality assurance practices.
- Tutor Direction: Provide direction, guidance, and mentoring for tutors as part of a team.
- Leadership and Recruitment: Lead and participate in the recruitment, training, and coaching of tutors, faculty, and other collegial supports.
- Program Development: Collaborate with partners to design, develop, and deliver transition to university and student success programs.
- Essential Skills Support: Assist with the development and teaching of numeracy, writing, and other essential skills, providing individual learning assistance and assessments as needed.
- Program Maintenance: Keep current with academic program requirements and teaching and learning developments at Saskatchewan Polytechnic to ensure responsive and effective programming.
- Learning Resource Development: Develop and maintain learning resources on various topics using different media.
- Web Page Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance of web pages and library guides using the Springshare system.
- Professional Development: Maintain current knowledge of student development theory, learning strategies, and participate in relevant professional associations and conferences.
- Collaboration and Representation: Collaborate with faculty to design and teach in-class workshops and learning strategy sessions tailored to specific disciplines, and represent Learning Services on relevant committees and working groups.
- Assessment and Research: Participate in assessment and research activities.
- Service Promotion: Help promote and raise awareness of services in accordance with Learning Services and Saskatchewan Polytechnic Strategic and Academic plans.
- Education: B. Ed (English Major) and/or Social Sciences Major or an equivalent combination of education and training in a field related to English, Math, Science, and education.
- Experience: Two years' recent and relevant experience in remedial teaching in English.
- Online Support: Demonstrated ability to support students in an online environment, including making adaptations/modifications to online content to enhance student outcomes.
- Software Skills: Training and/or experience at the introductory level in the use of common software packages, i.e., MS Office Suite.
- Adult Education: Ability to effectively provide adult education.
- Teamwork: Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of students.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal social, economic, and cultural challenges in Saskatchewan and the relationship of these challenges to the support of Aboriginal students.
- Diversity: Demonstrates valuing diversity.
