Volunteer MBC is dedicated to enhancing the safety and welfare of our community's most vulnerable individuals, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. We provide culturally sensitive services, supported by our community, to assist parents and caregivers in fostering healthy family dynamics and ensuring a secure environment for children and youth. Our organization is actively seeking FOSTER HOMES for children with complex needs, adolescents, and sibling groups. We encourage caregivers from various backgrounds, particularly those with experience in supporting young individuals with medical or behavioral challenges.

Role Overview

Are you able to provide a nurturing and secure home for a child or youth in need?

Foster Caregivers play a crucial role in supporting children and youth during challenging periods in their lives. Caregivers are responsible for addressing the daily needs of the child, accompanying them to appointments, participating in school activities, and maintaining their connections to family, culture, and community. Volunteer MBC covers the costs associated with the child's care; however, caregivers in this role do not receive a salary.

Qualifications Required

We welcome Foster Caregivers of all genders and cultural backgrounds. Strong parenting skills, a passion for working with children, and the ability to dedicate time to a child's emotional and physical needs are essential. You do not need to be married, have children, or own a home to become a Foster Caregiver. Financial stability is important, as Volunteer MBC covers the costs related to the child's care, but caregivers are not compensated with a salary. A non-smoking home with a suitable bedroom for the child is required, and the ability to transport the child to appointments is necessary. Full-time caregiving is ideal for the child's development.

Application Process

Initial screening of applicants will be conducted virtually/online, followed by 'home visits' for suitable candidates.

Age Requirements: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 80 years

Resume: Not necessary
Driver's License: Required
Vaccination Proof: Not required

Commitment Expectations

This role requires a Long-Term Commitment (More than 6 months).
Shifts are available Anytime.

Flexibility is essential, as Foster Caregivers must be prepared to meet the daily needs of a child or youth.

Training Provided

A thorough training program is available for all volunteer Foster Caregivers.
