Senior Fire Investigation Practice Leader

Position Overview:

The Senior Fire Investigation Practice Leader will report directly to the CEO and Technical Director of the Fire and Electrical Group. This role involves assisting in team leadership and collaborating with subject matter experts to provide consultations, conduct examinations, perform testing and analysis, and prepare comprehensive engineering reports and findings in a professional and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the organization’s strategic objectives by driving business development for your team, mentoring junior members, and expanding market presence through client engagement and community service.
  • Oversee client service timelines, budgeting, invoicing, and accounts receivable for your team, adhering to best practices.
  • Manage projects effectively, ensuring compliance with billing and reporting requirements and client service agreements to achieve targeted profit margins.
  • Conduct site examinations and document reviews, effectively communicating investigation and analysis results to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative environment within the team and across various disciplines.
  • Guide team members in their professional development, providing opportunities for both technical and business growth.
  • Draft technical reports based on thorough investigations and analyses.
  • Ensure that technical reports meet high-quality standards and undergo peer review.
  • Be prepared to provide expert testimony in legal proceedings.
  • Perform additional duties and engage in professional development activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of years' experience in a senior project management role, with prior experience in fire investigations.
  • Current registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC and APEGA.
  • Certification as a Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) is required.
  • Additional certifications such as CVFI, CFI, WETT, GLP, and GPI are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with regulatory codes and standards, including NFPA and other relevant codes.
  • Experience in a consulting engineering environment with a strong foundation in applying engineering principles to resolve complex issues.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills are essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients.
