About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practice Leader, Immunization Programs to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). This is an exciting opportunity to lead and advance immunization programs and communicable disease surveillance and investigation across the province.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert leadership and consultation to public health practitioners on immunization programs and communicable disease surveillance and investigation.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate provincial guidelines and standards of practice for immunization and communicable disease control programs.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and share knowledge about current research and literature on immunization and communicable disease control.
  • Lead and support knowledge translation and communication of best practices and successful programming for immunization.
  • Provide leadership for the provincial implementation and evaluation of new and expanded immunization programs and innovative practices in immunization.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Health Authorities, Ministry of Health, First Nations Health Authority, and public health practitioners.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs based on ongoing needs assessment, in collaboration with educators, public health nurse resources, and other professional staff.
  • Provide leadership and expert advice on staffing and care delivery approaches through interdisciplinary collaborative practice.
  • Pursue relationships with academic programs in university settings, professional associations, and other organizations involved in immunization programs and delivery.
  • Represent PHSA on external committees and with external bodies, as required.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field, with a minimum of five years of recent, related clinical experience in immunization and public health nursing in progressively senior leadership positions or advanced practice roles.
  • Eligibility for registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Strong facilitation skills, ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and ability to work independently and as an effective member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Demonstrated leadership through teaching, dissemination of research, and mentoring.
  • Strong problem-solving skills within a complex, challenging environment and across the healthcare system.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
