Calgary, Alberta, Canada The PREP Society for Individuals with Down Syndrome Full time

Licensed Speech-Language Therapist

The PREP Society for Individuals with Down Syndrome has been a leader in advocating for inclusion and supporting families for over 36 years. Our dedicated therapists play a crucial role in educating parents, healthcare providers, and educators about effective communication strategies and setting measurable, achievable goals that inspire collaboration to help each child reach their fullest potential.

We are currently seeking a qualified Speech-Language Therapist (SLT) to become an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, making a significant impact in the lives of children with Down syndrome. This position offers a diverse range of experiences to enhance your skills as an SLT while allowing you to share your knowledge with families, staff, educators, and other professionals. The role involves providing support to our families through a combination of onsite fee-for-service therapy, in-home FSCD contract services, and participation in our multidisciplinary group programs. Flexibility in hours is available; however, FSCD contracts for K-12 students necessitate therapy support outside of school hours, requiring some availability during late afternoons (no later than 5:30 PM). We are looking to fill a full-time equivalent position (21-35 hours/week) with a starting schedule of Monday to Thursday (10:00 AM - 5:30 PM) and Friday (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM), with potential flexibility based on the successful candidate's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and monitoring speech-language objectives and interventions
  • Delivering individualized, family-centered therapy
  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to address social and communication objectives in a group environment
  • Maintaining communication with parents, therapists, and other members of the support team

We Offer:

  • A permanent employment opportunity
  • A flexible working environment
  • Access to a supportive team of professionals
  • Five weeks of paid time off
  • Financial support for professional development
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including vision, dental, and prescription drug coverage

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be adept at working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills
  • Possess excellent communication abilities (both written and verbal)
  • Have a passion for working with children
  • Have experience with individuals with disabilities
  • Thrive in a flexible work setting

Professional Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists (ACSLPA)

Additional Experience:

  • Experience with FSCD contracts is considered an asset

Job Type:

  • Full-time or part-time
  • Permanent salaried position

Compensation: $50.00 - $63.00 per hour
