Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Pinchin's Richmond office is actively seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support the expansion of our Geotechnical Practice in the British Columbia Region. We are in search of a motivated individual to take on this pivotal role.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Mentoring and overseeing junior and intermediate team members.
  • Ensuring that all team members are well-versed in company protocols, health & safety measures, and operational programs.
  • Facilitating the continuous development of our geotechnical team by promoting technical training and providing guidance on complex challenges and field assessments.

Project Management:

  • Coordinating assessments and meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Delegating tasks to field personnel based on workload and in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
  • Drafting contract documents, proposals, and reports.
  • Advising clients on relevant regulations and guidelines.

Technical Engineering Duties:

  • Overseeing projects from inception to completion, including budget management, resource allocation, billing, and client relations.
  • Maintaining technical expertise through active participation in professional groups and organizations.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of training programs.

Financial Management:

  • Overseeing the financial components of projects, including personnel and subcontractor management.
  • Building strong partnerships with management across various service lines, identifying collaborative opportunities.
  • Assisting administrative staff with accounts receivable as needed.
  • Reviewing cost estimates and proposals for prospective clients.

Business Development and Client Relations:

  • Engaging in direct marketing and developing opportunities for both new and existing clients.
  • Leading efforts to pursue new business and project opportunities by nurturing and expanding client relationships.
  • Participating in Pinchin's marketing initiatives.
  • Meeting with clients to ascertain project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering or a related field, along with relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering at a senior level.
  • A Professional Engineering designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the province.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with project teams across the organization where geotechnical expertise is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities, especially in responding to time-sensitive client inquiries.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and initiative.
  • Capability to present information clearly and respond to inquiries from staff, clients, and management.
  • Proven technical writing skills for creating geotechnical engineering reports and correspondence.
