Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Mentoring, training, and overseeing junior and intermediate staff.
  • Ensuring that team members are trained in and adhere to company protocols, health & safety standards, and operational procedures.
  • Fostering the ongoing development of our geotechnical team by encouraging technical skill enhancement and providing guidance on complex issues and field investigations.

Project Management:

  • Coordinating assessments and meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Delegating tasks to field staff based on workload and in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
  • Drafting contract documents, proposals, and reports.
  • Advising clients on relevant regulations and guidelines.

Technical Engineering Duties:

  • Overseeing and/or reviewing projects from proposal to completion, including budget allocation, personnel management, billing, and client relations.
  • Maintaining technical expertise through active participation in professional practice groups and organizations.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of training programs.

Financial Management:

  • Managing the financial aspects of projects, including personnel and subcontractor oversight.
  • Building strong relationships with management across geotechnical and other service lines to identify partnership opportunities.
  • Assisting administrative staff with accounts receivable as needed.
  • Reviewing cost estimates and proposals for prospective clients.

Business Development and Client Management:

  • Engaging in direct marketing and developing work for both new and existing clients.
  • Leading efforts to pursue new business and project opportunities by cultivating and maintaining client relationships.
  • Participating in Pinchin's marketing initiatives.
  • Meeting with clients to ascertain project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering or a related field, along with relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering at a senior level.
  • A Professional Engineering Designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the province.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with project teams across the company where geotechnical support is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities, including timely responses to client inquiries.
  • Strong organizational skills and initiative.
  • Capability to present information effectively and respond to inquiries from staff, clients, and management.
  • Proven technical writing skills for preparing geotechnical engineering reports and correspondence.
