About the Opportunity

ZE Power Engineering Inc. is a leading engineering design company that provides innovative services to the electric utility industry. We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our team in administrative tasks and provide support to our company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, including geotechnical engineers and client reviewers, to ensure design conformance to client and company standards.
  • Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, calculations, and illustrations for distribution and transmission civil/structural projects, focusing on underground structure design and structural/dimensional calculations.
  • Assist in project coordination, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis to support the business development and project management departments.
  • Support documentation processes for projects, including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports, and project calculations.
  • Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, and assist team leads and managers.
  • Perform site visits to project locations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A degree in civil engineering from a recognized engineering educational institution, specializing in structural engineering for steel and concrete designs.
  • Registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or EIT with EGBC.
  • Civil engineering design experience in an electrical utility environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical utility civil standards, power transmission and distribution networks, and standards is an asset.
  • Experience with finite element modeling and analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively.
  • A Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel occasionally.
  • Familiarity with BC Hydro standards, design codes, and guides, such as Transmission Maintenance Standard 80.4001-01, ASCE/SEI 48, ASCE 10, ASTM A394, CSA A23.3, CSA B33.4, CSA G164, CSA O15, CSA S16, CSA S37, and IEEE 691.
