Environmental Operations and Maintenance Technician

Position Overview:
Arcadis Canada is in search of a skilled Environmental Operations and Maintenance Technician to become a vital part of our Resilience team located in Southwestern Ontario. This position is integral to our Global Resilience Business Area and will play a key role in supporting a variety of ongoing remediation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing tasks assigned by Project Managers related to environmental project execution. This includes overseeing the installation of diverse remediation and treatment systems, conducting operation and maintenance (O&M) activities, and performing regular inspections of these systems, ensuring equipment maintenance and compliance sampling.
The successful applicant should possess a solid understanding of various remediation technologies and demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot issues within treatment systems, as well as repair plumbing and equipment malfunctions. Responsibilities also include assembling and disassembling components for water treatment systems such as tanks, pumps, valves, and other related equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
In addition to the above, the candidate will assist in environmental site assessments, risk evaluations, and remediation projects under the guidance of Project Managers. This involves conducting site visits, monitoring drilling and remediation activities, preparing field documentation, and collecting soil and groundwater samples, as well as supporting data compilation and the preparation of environmental reports. The role requires approximately 85% travel to various sites within Southwestern Ontario, with potential travel across the province and country as needed.
Essential Skills:
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Mechanically adept with a keen attention to detail and precision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Qualifications:
A Technical Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering, earth sciences, or a related discipline is required. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining remediation and treatment systems, field sampling, or site investigation, along with subcontractor management experience. Credentials such as C. Tech or C.E.T, or eligibility for P.Eng. or P.Geo. are considered advantageous but are not mandatory.
