Community Justice Worker Overview
The Community Justice Worker plays a vital role in managing and executing the Community Service Order Program for adults aged 18 and over. This program is designed to ensure accountability through community-based sanctions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Management
- Promote and facilitate the Community Service Order Program
- Collaborate with Probation Services and various community partners
- Oversee the coordination of community placement sites
- Track and document the completion of Community Service Hours
- Act as an advocate for clients within community agencies
Support for Volunteers and Students
- Guide and mentor student placements and volunteers
Community Resource Development
- Enhance awareness of the Community Service Order Program
- Maintain relationships with community placements
- Communicate effectively with Probation Services and community partners
- Advocate for clients with various community agencies
Administrative Duties
- Prepare monthly reports and submissions
- Assist in preparations for accreditation and reviews
- Manage referrals, intakes, and completions
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to health and safety policies
- Serve as the certified representative for health and safety
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Working Environment:
- This is a permanent full-time position
- Flexibility in scheduling is essential
- Travel may be required as part of the role
- Services are provided across various locations
Qualifications and Educational Background:
- Completion of two or more years at a Community College
- An undergraduate degree in Social Services is preferred
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License
Experience and Expertise:
- Relevant experience in community programs
- Experience working with adult populations
- Familiarity with local community resources
- Understanding of restorative justice principles
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated with a disciplined approach
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and adaptability
- Excellent public relations skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- High standards of integrity and confidentiality
